A round table discussion took place on the 26th of September at the CRD centre, “Formal and non-formal education for developing tolerance and promoting multiculturalism”. The main aim of this activity was to present the results of the quantitative research carried out in the seven educational institutions in Turda between April and June 2011 and to propose solutions in relation to the problems identified further to the data analysis and interpretation.
“Make Your Voice Heard!” and “Cultural diversity through dialogue” are the two programs through which CRD aims to improve the cooperation between educational institutions and non-governmental organizations, through active involvement of the school representatives in elaborating and implementing a common activities plan between October and December 2011.
At the round table discussion attended schoolmasters, teachers, psychologists and educational counselors from the involved educational units.
The school representatives agreed with the activities we proposed and replied promptly to our invitation to cooperation. Therefore, the sessions with the pupils have already started this week: 200 pupils from 8 classes in 8 schools, aged between 11 and 14, have been made aware of the gravity of ethnic discrimination as well as of ways it can be fought against. The four sessions, based on non-formal education methods, attempt to fight against various types of discrimination: ethnic, gender, religious and people with disabilities and to promote tolerance, respect, equality and multiculturalism among pupils.
The schools involved in this project are: “Teodor Murăşanu” School, “Josika Miklos” Theoretical High School, Turda Arts and Crafts School, “Mihai Viteazul” National High School, “Avram Iancu” School, “Horea, CloÅŸca ÅŸi CriÅŸan” School, “Andrei Åžaguna” School, “Ioan OpriÅŸ” School.
Many thanks to the educational units in Turda for their involvement and congratulations for their contribution in developing a democratic society based on the above mentioned values!
